Introducing Gothic Arch Guest Artist - Vicky Fernando!

Tomorrow we'll be revealing the latest theme in our Inkurable Stampers 2010 Gothic Arch Challenge, and this fortnight our guest artist is none other than long-time Inkurable Stamper, Vicky Fernando!

Vicky has entered every single challenge here at Inkurable Stampers since I started the blog back in April 2008! (And she didn't even know me before-hand!). Now that's commitment! She is also by far the most frequent commenter here on the blog as well. So I can't think of a better person to showcase here so we can all get to know her even better!

Vicky is a wife and mother who lives in Victoria, Australia. She is currently on the Design Team for The Craft Queen, and has been a featured artist on the Stampbord website. You can see more of Vicky's work on her blog here.

I asked Vicky the interview questions - here are her answers:

1. Had you ever made a Gothic Arch before taking on this challenge?

I had never made a Gothic arch until I joined in with the year-long challenge here…but I have often admired the shape from afar LOL! It’s great to have a new challenge & fun to have another excuse to get to play with my stamps, not that I need another excuse!!!

2. What will you do with your arches when they're all finished? Will you be making them all the same size, or mixing things up?

When I first joined in with the challenge, I didn’t do my homework, & I used a triptych card template as my shape, but soon realized the shape was slightly different, so I have 2 arches which are different to the rest, maybe they will be my front & back cover??? I guess that answers the question of what I will do with my arches? But then again, I tend not to plan things, so I may just change my mind about that LOL!

3. When stamping, do you prefer red rubber stamps, or clear stamps? Why?

I tend to buy my stamps based on the image, rather than whether it’s made of red rubber or clear polymer, but having said that, I do tend to lean more towards red rubber, they just “feel” right.

4. What is your favourite stamp in your collection?

Ooh, that’s a tricky question, as I’m always partial to the newest image that has joined my stash LOL, but if I had to pick just one image it would be “Head” (by Daniel Torrente for Stampotique Originals). It screams weird, but I love it!

5. How often do you use stamps in your projects?

As often as I can, there are just so many beautiful images to choose from, & so many different techniques to try out!

6. What is your favourite stamping / inking technique?

Any type of resist technique is right at the top of my list, closely followed by heat-embossing, & distressing (does that count as a stamping technique? LOL!).

Thanks so much Vicky for letting us get to know you better!

Stay tuned - Vicky's Gothic Arch wil be revealed tomorrow along with Fiona's sample arch - you won't want to miss them!
