Last minute lovelies!

Hello stampers!

Our Lavender and Lime challenge has almost finished! Here are the latest entries.

This card was sent in by Lyn Smith:

Lyn says:

"I started my card with a piece of glossy magazine page, painted on some white gesso and sponged with Versacolor Heliotrope and Lime once it had dried. I then stamped my Darkroom Door images using Versafine Black ink onto the piece - the images are all from the Wildflower Vol 1 stamp set. I added a few Kaisercraft rhinestones to the middle image and the butterfly".

"I adhered my stamped piece onto some Stampin' Up Eggplant cardstock wrapped some lavender ribbon around the bottom half, then adhered the piece to some Bazzil Limeade cardstock. My card base is white cardstock layered with Stampin' Up eggplant cardstock and a piece of Kaisercraft Lilac Ave designer paper. I layered my stamped piece onto my card using dimensional squares. The word is stamped onto a scrap of the designer paper and layered onto SU eggplant cardstock, then adhered to the card".

Beautiful work Lyn!

The next entry is an ATC that was sent in by Jenny Rodda:

Jenny says:

"The background is oil pastel, stamped with Kaiser Bubble Wrap stamp and Jo Sonja's brilliant violet paint. Some sewing in lime thread, image from here, October Afternoon paper, text from Collections Elements and some doodling".

Very cool Jenny!

OK stampers - I'll be back in the morning if any more entries hit my inbox between now and midnight, otherwise I'll be back on Monday! (It's my little man's birthday tomorrow, so the new challenge details will have to wait! LOL!).

Lovely Lavender and Lime Creations!

Hello stampers!

I have some new lavender and lime projects to share with you!

This lovely card was sent in by Julie Dudley:

Isn't that bear stamp just adorable?! It from Stamp-it. Julie used Copic Markers to colour it in.

Next, Dawn Lewis has sent in a card to inspire you all to give the challenge a go:

Dawn crocheted those gorgeous flowers herself! Too clever! Papers are from DCWV and the stamp is from Stampin' Up.

Great work ladies!

Still stuck for ideas for this month's challenge? I spotted a few other challenge blogs doing this colour combo last week, so you can go and check out the entries for some inspiration! See them at Play Date Cafe Challenge #38 and 4x4 Friday.

Sensational Stampbord!

Happy Saturday stampers!!

Today I'm here to share the latest Lavender and Lime entry - an ATC Box created by Vicky Fernando:

Vicky says:

"I started by working out my own template to make the pouch, to which I added a window by using one of my nesties, & covered the section with a piece of clear acetate. I then used some gold ink & a gold pen to do the edges, adding the Collections scroll, & the butterflies (from Darkroom Door), which were stamped with Archival ink onto some sraps of previously painted (with purple & lime acrylic paint) watercolour paper, covering them with Dimensional Magic".

"I finished the piece with a word from a Darkroom Door word strip, & some ribbon. I then got to work on an ATC sized Stampbord tile. I used all Darkroom Door stamps from various sets, Adirondack ink (lettuce) for the background & Archival ink for the images".

"I edged the tile with a gold pen, added some pearls & a word from a Darkroom Door word strip".

Fantastic work Vicky!!

I hope you have an inky weekend everyone!

Helloooo...(echo)...(echo).....

Where have all my stampers gone?! I hope this month's colour challenge hasn't scared you off! Perhaps your fingers are frozen with all this cold weather? (Or maybe melted off in the case of our Northern Hemisphere friends?).

Well, whatever the reason, this weekend is the perfect time to dust off those stamps and get inky! I miss you! :)

Today's entry is a lovely easel card that was sent in by Kay Griffin of the UK:

Kay says:

"The image is a cute one from Penny Black called arrangement and is coloured using copics, with impress ink sponged around the edges. I added punched flowers using a woodware daisy punch and an Xcut embossing punch".

Lovely work Kay!

The blog here has been so quiet lately that I've actually had a chance to do some creating myself! {gasp!}. I've created a couple of different cards with the Lavender and Lime colour scheme - here's a sneak peek of one of them:

You can see this card here, and my other card here. I've been having fun playing with my Copics! While you're there, make sure to leave a comment so I know you visited! :)

Then stop blog surfing and get stamping! LMAO!! I wanna see some more entries!!

Magazine holder!

Hello stampers!!

Yes - I know - I didn't make it back yesterday with the new Gothic Arch challenge theme. Housework won in the end! LOL!! I'm hoping to get it posted by tonight (all going well) - thanks for your patience!

So today I'm here to share the latest Lavender and Lime entry with you, which is a Magazine holder that was sent in by Anneke De Clerck of Belgium:

Anneke says:

"I made a cardboard box to store magazines away, in the colors purple and green. To make the box, I started from flat cardboard. I decorated the outside of the box with purple paper and the inside with green paper. On the front cover I sewed a frame in which I put a stamped image. The closure is decorated with beads".

"For the stamped image I started with distress ink and water on a craftsheet. Then I used the Tim Holtz Mask Timeworks and I coloured around the mask with distress ink and a blending tool. The girl is stamped on a circle with the same background".

Here's Anneke's box with the magazines inside:

What a fantastic idea! Great work Anneke!

I've got lots of stamping to do today, so I'd better go do it! Byeeeeeee!

*** WINNERS FOR JUNE 2010! ***

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Stars theme challenge last month! As always there were some gorgeous entries! But before I show you the slideshow and announce the winners, I thought I may as well show you the card I made for the challenge - better late then never, huh?! LOL!! Here it is:

First I stamped the town stamp (from Green Pepper Press) onto white cardstock with black ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I then stamped the stars (by Darkroom Door from the Christmas Reindeer set) in the sky with Versamark ink, and embossed with clear embossing powder. This created a resist when I applied the colour for the sky.

The sky is a mixture of Distress Inks and Twinkling H2O's. I coloured the buildings with Dusty Concord Distress Inks which I applied with an Aquash brush.

I matted the scene onto white cardstock, then onto a navy blue Bazzill cardstock base. The finished card measures 6.5x4.75".

So there you go! A lot different to my normal style, but I had fun giving it a go. :)

OK - now let's check out last month's entries in the slideshow:

Only 13 entries last month - let's aim for double that this month!! :)

Without further ado, here are the winners for the Stars challenge:

MAJOR PRIZE:

SHIRLEY HENRY! You have won the $50 Mystery Pack from The Stamping Queen!

ELS BRIGE from BELGIUM! You have won the French Script Background Stamp courtesy of Darkroom Door!

Congratulations ladies! Have fun stamping!

Hey stampers - your name could be on this list next moth! But you've gotta be in it to win it, so send in your Lavender and Lime entries for your chance to win!

~Sarah~

Our latest entry!

Hello stampers!

Yes I know - I still need to announce the winners for last month! I'm working on it! :)

But in the mean time, here's our latest Lavender and Lime entry, which is a card that was sent in by Fiona Shultz:

Fiona says:

"I began with this tutorial for a recessed window card from Splitcoast Stampers. I used the large flower, corner flower, and leaf stamps from the Kaisercraft Utopia set".

"I used black archival ink to stamp on Kaisercraft Sorbet and Lilac Avenue papers (plus some bits and pieces from the scrap pieces). Once they were all cut out, I edged them all with peeled paint and dusty concord distress inks".

"I have used glue dots and 3d mounting tape to raise my flowers, while using double sided tape to keep the flower centres lower. The greeting is from the Darkroom Door all occasions set. The card was finished with kaiser rhinestones".

Awesome work Fiona! An amazing amount of effort has gone into making this card! Well done!

OK stampers - I'll be back shortly with the winners for last month - and maybe if you're lucky, I may even be back a third time with a new Gothic Arch challenge! Wish me luck! LOL!!

Half way there!

Hello stampers!

We're half way through the month and already we've seen some gorgeous Lavender and Lime creations! There's still plenty of time to get your entry in, so make sure you set aside some time to give the challenge a go! :)

Todays entry was sent in by Inkurable Youngster Kate Lewis:

Kate says:

"This is one of Mum's Greeting Farm stamps, and I coloured her (and the card) with copic markers. The greeting is a 'Stampin' Up!' curvy verses stamp. I thought the saying went really well with the party girl".

Great work Kate!

I'll be back soon to announce the winner's of last month's challenge, and share my card that I made for the Stars theme! (Better late than never, right??! LOL!).

Until then......

Lavender and Lime Purses!

Hello stampers!

I have some more lovely lavender and lime entries to share with you guys today!

First we have this little fabric purse by Laurence Schmitz of Belgium:

Laurence says:

"I was inspired by the fab work of Alisa Burke and her latest tutorial. I painted circles with green acrylic paint on fabric, cut out smaller circles from lavender polka fabric. I used the same stamp twice on top of the green circles (the center of the bloom and the full bloom). I did some free motion to make this small fabric purse. I really enjoyed this color combination!".

So cute Laurence!

Next we have this clutch purse by Giovanna from Italy:

From Gio:

"I took two pieces of muslin and I painted them with acrilycs purple and green paint. Once dry, I stamped the purple one with some flowers from Prima Stamps, the chandelier from Papermania and a border from an hand-carved stamp with purple and black Staz-On".

"I stamped the dot circle from a Stampinback stamp on the green muslin. I cut the circle, partially sewed it, stuffed, then sewed it up. I cut and sewed the purse. I glued the green botton along with a metallic charm coloured with green color ink".

Lovely work Gio!

I'm loving this theme! So many cool ideas coming in from you guys! I'm looking forward to seeing what hits my inbox next! :)

Happy stamping!

I'm back!

Hello stampers!

Sorry to go AWOL from the blog for the weekend - I was visiting my parents and couldn't access my emails. But I'm back today with lots of lovely new lavender and lime projects to share! Let's jump right in!

First we have this card from Jenene Evans:

Jenene says:

"Lavender & Lime is so beautiful together! I have made a card using lavender & Lime card; Kaisercraft paper; "Hello" stamp by Paper Craft attached with a brad. The houses stamp is by 'Stampin Up!' and the lacy punch is by 'Stampin Up!" also. I finished by cutting out some of the house bits in lavendar & lime & glueing on, there is also a small Rhinestone by Kaisercraft for a door knob".

Very cute Jenene!

Next we have a card by Shirley Henry:

Shirley says:

"I applied 'Purple Twilight' and 'Citrus' alcohol inks to white gloss card in a rough plaid pattern. I then dry embossed the card with traffic lights embossing folder. I stamped Eric (Stampotique) with black ink onto white card. Coloured him with watercolour pencils and gel pens, then matted onto scrap black card".

"Two green ribbon strips were attached to the embossed card. Three homemade gems were attached to the ribbon. Made with hot glue gun and purple twiligh alcohol ink. The sentiment is made from Rusty Pickles alpha stamp set. The ! is an upside down i. I used a little crayon resist on the sentiment sponged with Dusty Concord ink. Eric is attached with some foam squares".

Great work Shirley!

Last but most certainly not least is this card from 12 year old Emily Schultz:

Emily says:

"I started off with some purple basil for the base of the card. I stamped onto white card the "Precious Moments" stamp from stampavie, which I cut out and coloured. I stamped a Tim Holtz bird stamp in black (from Lost & Found set), and the flowers from the "Sweetest Bug Icons" Heidi Grace set I stamped in peeled paint for some background".

"I used purple buttons and some cotton for flowers. I put a "hugs & kisses" sentiment from the Darkroom Door "All Occasions" set in the middle. I folded the paper (from Bo bunny flutter butter range) in a corner for an added feature".

Gorgeous card Emily!

Well, that's it for today! I have one more entry waiting in my inbox which I will share tomorrow, so make sure you come back to check it out!

Stay inky!

Lavender and Lime Lovelies!

Hello stampers!

It's school holidays here, so forgive me if my posts are a bit sporadic for the next week or so. :) Oh, and if you're looking for something to do with the kids, go and see Toy Story 3! It is sensational - the best movie I've seen in years! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be on the edge of your seat! Your kids will love it too! LOL!

Today I have some lovely new Lavender and Lime projects to share with you!

First up is this ATC from Julie Haelemeersch of Belgium:

Julie says:

"The background was sprayed with lime and purple glimmer mist. Then I stamped “Modern Background” (Stampinback) using Colorbox 'Frosty White' and heat embossed it with Holographic Embossing powder".

"I heat embossed “Mink” (Stampotique) in black on black cardstock, which I bleached. I painted Mink with Perfect Pearls (mixed with water), cut out the image and glued it to my background. I cut the number 1 out of chipboard and added paint dabbers, glimmer mist and perfect pearls (just to be sure there would be some bling!) and finished off adding the sentiment (Crafty Secrets)".

Great work Julie! That background looks sensational!

Next, Godelieve Tijskens from Belgium has been busy creating Lavender and Lime projects with her scraps. Check out these tags:

She also made this lovely card:

I don't know about you, but I am falling more and more in love with this colour combo every day!! I can't wait to see what else you guys have in store this month!

Happy stamping!

Gothic Arch Challenge #12 - FABRIC!

Our latest Inkurable Stampers 2010 Gothic Arch Challenge theme is FABRIC!

Your task is to use fabric on your Gothic Arch!

Ideas:

* Create your arch totally out of fabric!
* Stamp onto fabric and attach it to your arch.
* Include things like buttons, lace, ribbon, muslin, hessian etc.

Jill Geraghty-Groves is back again to wow us with her example for this challenge (click pics to enlarge):

Jill says:

"Again, I've cut out an arch from thick chipboard. I attached a few layers of vintage text using Gel Medium, then painted over the vintage text with Ranger Crackle paints and sanded".

"I've then stamped a gorgeous Darkroom Door bloom in brown versamark ink onto a thin strip of calico and heat embossed it (not I held the heat gun on for a little too long at the top LOLOL!!). I was really just testing to see if you can indeed heat emboss fabric...and you can!!!)".

"I've then cut similar size strips of calico and hand stitched them on and finished it off with vintage buttons on silk ribbon. I highlighted around the flower with a little hand stitching in blue embroidery
thread, then attached a piece of vintage hand crocheted doily to my arch before finally attaching the stamped flower. Delicious!"
.

It certainly is delicious Jill! So very pretty!!

Well stampers, if that hasn't inspired you to get out your fabric and create an arch, I don't know what will!!

Please join me in shouting a great big inky "THANK YOU!" our Guest Artist Jill Geraghty-Groves for joining us here on the blog today and showing us her incredible work!

If you'd like to join in on our year-long Gothic Arch challenge, check out the details on our dedicated Flickr page here.

Happy Stamping!

~Sarah~

Gothic Arch Challenge #11 - PAINT!

The next theme for our Inkurable Stampers 2010 Gothic Arch Challenge is PAINT!

Your challenge is to use paint on your Gothic Arch!

Ideas:

* Use paint to create a background for your arch.
* Stamp your images on your arch with paint.
* Create a paint themed arch.

Our guest artist Jill Geraghty-Groves has created a fabulously Gothic painted Arch for us as our example (click pics to enlarge):

Jill says:

"I made an arch on thick chipboard. Covered it in vintage paper, painted it, inked it and them stamped (very badly) with black paint on an old harlequin Making Memories foam stamp".

"I've then stamped my favourite Paper Artsy freaky guy onto vintage text and heat embossed him, and cut him out. I've also painted a Collections Elements chipboard frame in black acrylic paint"
.

"Using a mixure of distress ink (black soot) and Maya Mist in red, I've "bloodied" up some muslin to form freaky curtains and attached to the reverse of the chipboard frame. The frame has been attached, and then I've attached the freaky guy and some freaky words".

"To finish it off, I've attached a further small piece of bloodied muslin, followed by a black cross. (Please don't be offended anyone - its all tongue in cheek and good fun!!! Just getting my freak on.....!!!)"
.

Love it Jill!! Very freaky, and very funny!!

Now it's your turn! If you haven't yet heard of our 2010 Gothic Arch challenge, check out all the details here. There's 24 arches to be done over this whole year, and you have until the 31st of December to do them! As always, if you have any questions, please let me know! :)

Upload your creations to our dedicated Flickr Group, and while you're there, check out all the other fabulous arches in the group pool!

Stay tuned for our Gothic Arch Challenge #11 to be revealed later today! You've seen Jill's dark side, but this next arch couldn't be more opposite! I can't wait to share it with you!

Until then......

~Sarah~

Please Welcome Guest Artist Jill Geraghty-Groves!

Please join me in extending a great big inky welcome to our 2nd Mystery Guest Artist, Jill Geraghty-Groves!!

Jill Geraghty-Groves is a paper crafter and mixed media artist extraordinaire from Queesnsland, Australia.

Jill is currently on the design teams for Darkroom Door, and Tarisota Collections, and is one half of the awesome Gradum Gypsies - bringing you gorgeous handmade pendants and other bits and bobs through their Etsy store.

Jill has long been one of my all time favourite creative people and I am so excited to have her here as a guest artist for the Gothic Arch Challenge so I can share her awesomeness with you all!

Jill will be launching not one but TWO new Gothic Arch challenge themes today for our Inkurable Stampers 2010 Gothic Arch Challenge!

But first, let's have a chat with Jill:

1. Have you ever made a Gothic Arch before?

Never! But they are a hoot to make! I have absolutely no idea what I will do with them though.... more stuff to get rid of when I die I guess LOLOL!!!

2. When stamping, do you prefer red rubber stamps, or clear stamps? Why?

Definitely red rubber stamps. Unmounted preferable. I prefer them because they seem to get the clearest crispest image!

3. What is your favourite stamp in your collection?

My very fave is my Paper Artsy freaky guy with the button eyes. Just appeals to my darker side I guess. (Stay tuned to see him in one of Jill's arches!).

4. How often do you use stamps in your projects?

I use stamps in most of my projects! Love Love Love them!

5. What is your favourite stamping / inking technique?

I love using stamps straight onto fabric.

Thanks for sharing Jill!

You may remember Jill's "Bad Barbie" Nicho that we featured here on the blog back in October 2008 (OMG I can't believe it was that long ago!). Or you may have seen her gorgeous work over at the Darkroom Door blog or in the Tarisota Gallery. Whether you're a fan of Jill's dark side, or her vintage pretties side, you will not be disappointed with today's Gothic Arches!

Don't go away! Jill's first arch will be revealed shortly!

Lots of pretty things.....

Hello stampers!

Thanks for your lovely comments on my card and the new challenge theme! It's such a cool colour combination, and I hope it inspires you to get inky!

Speaking of inspiration, Tamar from Tarisota created this lovely image for her blog to announce the latest challenge to her readers, and I thought it was so lovely and inspiring that I just had to share it with you! (Click to enlarge).

Such gorgeous photos and a lovely quote too!

Whilst I'm sharing inspiration, Dawn Lewis kindly pointed me towards some Lavender and Lime cards that she has created recently so that I could share them with you guys! First up is a card where she created her own background paper:

Read more about it here.

And another card using left over supplies:

Thanks for sharing Dawn! :)

Now can you believe - I've already received the first entry for this month's challenge! This Neverending Card/Mini Album was sent in by Alex Graywolfe from the USA:

Alex says:

"First I stamped the two identical flowers and colored them the same with my Copics. Then I cut out the first flower and used popdots to place them onto the flower I cut out with my Fiskars circle punch. I then stamped out the green flower. I used the 1" square Fiskars punch".

"The alphabet for Tea Time was from an unknown stash in my Alphabet Stash Box. The brads used with them are Scrap Essentials by Jo-Ann. The Stamps are Fiskars for the large flower and Inkadinkado for the small flower. You can ad 4 to 8 mini photos on this page".

You can see the rest of Alex's card on her blog here.

That's it for today!

If you're a Gothic Arch lover, then hold onto your hats! Tomorrow I will be revealing another Mystery Guest Artist who has created some gorgeous arches for not one but TWO new challenge themes! Don't miss it!

THE THEME FOR JULY 2010 IS.........

(Which is just a fancy way of saying Purple and Green!).

Your task this month is to create something (anything!) using the colour combination of Lavender and Lime. Or Purple and Green. Or Violet and Mint. Or Grape and Apple. You get the idea! LOL!

You can also use other neutral colours like black, white, cream, brown etc, as long as the main colours of your project are purple and green. And don't forget to use at least one stamp in your creation!

I was inspired to use this colour combo as a challenge theme after seeing this photo of a project by Vanessa Spencer that was featured on the Stampington website:

These are colours that you wouldn't think work well together, but they make a striking combination that can be used for subtle, pretty projects like this one, or more in-your-face dramatic creations! So guess which one I went with for my example??! LOL!

Here it is:

I have used stamps from Stampotique (Girl), Odd Bird Planet (Happy Birthday) and Darkroom Door (Harlequin Background).

My card measures 5.5x5.5".

The background was created by stamping the Harlequin Background onto "Apple Crush" Bazzill Smoothies cardstock with Violet ink. I then inked around the edges with the same ink using a sponge dauber. The spiderweb down the right hand side was created on black Bazzill cardstock using a Martha Stewart border punch.

I'd had that gorgeous purple satin ribbon in my stash for ages, and I was so glad to finally use it! I adhered double sided tape to the card, and then pleated the ribbon on top of it.

The Stampotique girl was stamped with black ink and coloured using Copic Markers. I drew in the neck/spine with a black pen. I cut out the circle with a Nestabilities die, and then inked around the edges with black ink. I then cut a mat for the image out of black bazzill cardstock using a scalloped circle Nestabilities die. The circle was mounted to the card front using foam mounting tape.

Here is a close up:

For the "Happy Birthday" sentiment, I first cut a piece of white Neenah cardstock to size and coloured it with a green Copic Marker. I then stamped the "Happy Birthday" stamp on it with black ink, then heat embossed with purple embossing powder. I inked around the edges with black ink, mounted it onto a piece of black bazzill cardstock, and attached it to the front of the card using foam mounting tape.

A purple gem brad, a coupe of brads, and some German Scrap were added also. I then matted the whole piece onto black bazzill cardstock, and the card base is dark purple bazzill cardstock ("Black Orchid").

Now, if dramatic isn't your style, never fear! Check out this pretty card that I did way back in July 2008 for our Flourishes theme. :)

Now it's your turn!

You have until midnight 31st July 2010 (Sydney time) to send in your entry to be eligible for one of the prizes on offer from our sponsors! Entries must comply with the challenge details and the participation guidelines set out in the sidebar to the right. As always, your entry must feature at least one stamp, and if you have any questions, please let me know!

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with this month! :)

Happy stamping!

~Sarah~
