Hi everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend!
Our latest entry comes from Jenene Evans:
Jenene says:
"I downloaded a shoe template, covered it in Stampin Up! paper. I stamped the butterfly and flower (Darkroom Door) using tinted embossing & 'Whispers' embossing powder - Enchanted Gold. I cut them out and attached the butterfly to the back of the shoe, & the flower & a little circle of organza to front with a diamond split pin. I added a few diamonds to the toe and organza ribbon to the back. I also used Golden Iridescent Pearl to dot around the edge of the shoe".
Lovely work Jenene!
Only 3 more days to get your challenge entry to me! Don't miss out on your chance to grab one of the fabulous prizes on offer this month.
Stay inky!

Gothic Arch Challenge #19 - ALL ABOUT ME!
Hello arch lovers!!
It's Sunday, and that means it's time for another theme in our Inkurable Stampers 2010 Gothic Arch Challenge!
Your 19th theme is.....
"ALL ABOUT ME"!
Your task is to create an arch that represents YOU!
Here are some ideas:
* You could include a photo of yourself.
* Use stamps or images that represent your favourite things like music, or animals.
* Use your favourite colour scheme.
* Include a lock of your hair, or a button from your favourite blouse.
* Use your own handwriting on your arch.
Fiona Shultz has created a stunning example arch for you guys:
Products Used:
* Stamps – Darkroom Door ‘artist’, The Girls Paperie ‘paper girl’, Paper Artsy ‘hot pick 1007.
* Distress Ink – "Old paper", "Forest Moss", "Walnut Stain".
* Black Archival Ink.
* Cardstock – Bazzill, Basic Grey blush, Heidi Grace forever love, MME bella bella (all offcuts)
* Flowers – handmade crochet, using ecru DMC cotton
* Brown Artist Pen
* Other – button, charm, safety pin, Kaiser rhinestones, ribbon, sewing thread
"The green cardstock was first inked with Old Paper and Forest Moss distress inks, and a hole was torn in it before being stamped with the DD brushes and ink splots in Forest Moss, and the Paper Artsy Paris montage in archival black. Some brown scrap was placed behind the torn out hole and it was torn as well, but rolled back to form the ripped opening. The DD words were stamped in black archival on pink scrap and attached behind the torn hole".
"The music score and flower squares were stamped onto scrap pink, cut out, edged in walnut stain and attached – one with cross stitches. I cut a Kaiser rhinestone flower to make the pink ‘diamond’ necklace. The flowers were stitched in place invisibly, and the charm/safety pin attached, as well as the button. The ribbon ends were sandwiched between the inside green/brown layer on the door, and the green/brown arch pieces on the back. The brown pen was used to define the edges where there was no detail. The inside of the door was a green cardstock scrap stamped with a DD quote in walnut stain and edged in all three distress inks".

"A second arch in brown cardstock was cut out, leaving an extra flap which became a ‘door’. The cream cardstock was carefully positioned on the green arch while I stamped The Girls Paperie mannequin in Forest Moss. I then attached the cream section on front of the brown door – so it was in effect ‘highlighted’ – then stitched it in place".

Putting their best foot forward...
Hello stampers!
I'm back again with more shoe entries! My inbox is finally feelin' the love!! :)
First we have this cool altered clock by Giovanna from Italy:
Gio says:
"I've bought this alarm clock just to get all the cogs inside. When I was done, I started to alter what was left. I coloured the dial watch with wax crayons, and I used a stencil with a little bit of acrylic paint. Then I started to stamp on it: the high heels shoe from Inkidinkado, the text from a stamp from my stash, and the little street's nameplate from Aladine".
"I glued some rhinestone gems and a metallic charm, and I assembled all together.For the external part of the clock, I used purple and green alcohol-inks, and stamped on it some swirls from Rhonna Farrer clear stamps, and the text with a stamp from my stash".
Awesome work Gio!
Next we have this great ATC that was sent in by Lisa Mason of the UK:
Lisa says:
"The background is swiped with Stampin' Up inkpads in pink, yellow and orange and then over stamped with a Paperartsy diamond stamp in pink. I masked my first shoe off and stamped the second to make a pair, and then coloured them with Copics. I used some fabulous Stampin' Up letter stamps for the words".

And lastly for today we have this gorgeous shoe by Jenny Rodda:
Jenny says:
"I began with a template from here, stamped randomly on the inner sole, added stickers and an image from tumblefish studio. I added an extra piece to the sole by simply making the template a little wider".
"The flower was made by cutting three circles, distressing, inking and scrunching and attaching with a brad. I decided my shoe need a little heel and so now my mouse pad has a bite out of it.......oops!".
So beautiful Jenny!
Such a gorgeous bunch of shoes there!
I'm looking forward to seeing more of them! :)

Shoes, glorious shoes!
Hello stampers!
Woot! I've got three great Shoes themed projects to share today!
First we have this great card that was sent in by Chloe Nielsen:
Chloe says:
"I got the idea to do a "good luck on your travels" card using map paper as a background. I used the cowboy boots template (from the link at Inkurable), Kaisercraft stamps with Versacolor ink and some Tim Holtz tape that was convieniently "journey" themed!".

Next we have a lovely card that was sent in by Karen Daley of Canada:
Karen says:
"The shoe stamp is by Sunshine Designs, stamped in gold and embossed with Bavarian Bronze embossing powder on watercolour paper. I coloured the image with Tombow markers, blending with a moist paintbrush. Several layers of coordinating paper later, I had a card. The border punch is Stampin' Up, the patterned paper is Stella Ruby collection (BasicGrey), an oldie but a goodie, and the flower is stamped with a grubby Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous border stamp (tire track effect purely coincidental). All the papers have their edges inked with Art Print Brown (Memories)".
Great work Karen - what a cool stamp!
Last but not least we have a gorgeous baby shoe that was sent in by Marianne Verschoof of The Netherlands:
Marianne says:
"I sponged the shoe in different colors and added some flower/decorationstamps. The back of the shoe is embossed with my scor-pal. A baby needs some support in his shoe!;-)".
Here are some more pics:
So gorgeous Marianne!!
It's so great to see the entries finally coming in! Keep them coming!

Finally! Some Shoes To Share!
Hello stampers!
I've finally got some shoes to show you!
First we have this sandal that was sent in by Fiona Shultz as inspiration for you guys to give the challenge a go: (Now that Fiona's my official Gothic Arch challenge helper, you'll still see her gorgeous creations every month, but they will be purely for your inspiration. :)).
Notes from Fiona:
"I began with some craft foam, and a shoe template from Stampington. The stamps are Heidi Grace “Reagan’s Closet” stamped in Stazon Black, and coloured with metallic gel pens. Carefully slice the craft foam for your ribbon and adhere under the shoe. Cut a second shoe from cardstock and adhere under the craft foam to make the shoe more solid. I added a handmade beaded flower for a bit of bling".
Great work Fiona!
Next we have our first official Shoe challenge entry - a very cute baby shoe by Vicky Fernando:
Vicky says:
"I used a template from HERE for the girl shoe".
"I started by printing out the template, cutting it and tracing it onto some caramel coloured cardstock. I then got some Brilliance inks in pearlescent crimson & pearlescent coral, and stamped the tiny flowers from THIS Darkroom Door set".

I then trimmed the shoe shape & with the aid of my trusty sewing machine, ran a tiny stitch all around the edges. I then stuck the body to the bottom of the shoe, & added the velvet flower ribbon".
Lovely work Vicky!
Keep sending in those entries everyone!!

Gothic Arch Challenge #18 - FLOWERS!
Hello arch lovers!
Your next Gothic Arch challenge theme is FLOWERS!
A nice easy one to get you stamping right away! I bet every single one of you has some flowers in your stash!!
Fiona Shultz has created an awesome example arch for you all:
Products Used:
* Stamps: Hero Arts Friends Definition; Darkroom Door Artist; Paper Artsy Hot Picks #1006; Paper Artsy Pierrot #4; Tim Holtz Lost & Found.
* Distress Inks – Peeled Paint, Fired Brick, Stormy Sky.
* Black Archival Ink; Black Versacolor Ink; White Bazzill Cardstock.
* Tim Holtz Alteration Die - Flower
* Charms, Dimensional Magic, hot glue, black brads, edge distresser.
Notes from Fiona:
"I die cut heaps of flowers, and stamped them in archival ink (black) with the quotes from each of the stamp sets. I then coloured the reverse side of the flowers in distress inks (one colour per flower). The flowers are made similar to the method Tim Holtz uses, however, I started from the inner part, and as I wanted to add an extra layer, I just wrapped it around and glued it with dimensional magic layer by layer. Once dry, I cut down the waste on the back so my flowers weren’t too tall. They were still too tall, so to disguise it, I decided to make my arch a recessed window".
"If you have never made a recessed window, you can check out this tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers to see how to make a basic square recessed window. I have used the same principal, except my window is only 1/8th inch deep, and I had to sketch the fold and cut lines myself to make it fit the arch shape perfectly. Also, because of the extra pressure of the curves, I attached my external flaps underneath my arch base, then adhered another arch base to lock those external flaps securely in place".
"I made the sign with a piece of scrap and the secret garden stamp from the Paper Artsy set, distressed the edges and dragged the edges through black ink. The frame was coloured and the sign attached to the frame before folding and attaching in place. The edges of the frame were dragged with black versacolor ink, and the internal flat layer (to help the recessed part stay in place) was coloured to match the frame and outlined along its edge in black marker. The flowers and leaves were hot glued randomly in the recessed window (ok, so I did lay it out to make sure I was happy with the randomness... lol) and the butterflies and dragonfly were attached with dimensional magic".
Fabulous work Fiona!
Now it's your turn, stampers!

THE THEME FOR SEPTEMBER 2010 IS.........
SHOES!
Your task this month is to create something (anything at all!) using "Shoes" as a theme, and of course, at least one stamp.
I thought I'd go for something a little different this month and hopefully get you out of your comfort zone and trying something different!
Here are some ideas:
* Use a template to create a paper shoe.
* Use a template to create a shoe shaped card.
* Alter an old pair of shoes using stamps.
* Create a scrapbook page about your favourite pair of shoes, or your baby booties.
* Make an ATC featuring a pair of shoes.
* Use a stamp on your creation that features a shoe or pair of shoes.
* Use the shape, colours, or embellishments on a pair of shoes as inspiration for your project.
* USe song lyrics about shoes in your creation. (e.g "Blue Suede Shoes" or "These Boots Were Made For Walkin'".
* Think about all different types of shoes - Men's, Women's, Children's, Babies, heck - even horse shoes!
Here is my example (click pics to enlarge):
I created a 3D shoe that could be used as a gift box to hold chocolates, or as a novelty item for wedding bonbonierre or a hens night etc. I used a free template that I found online here. Here's another angle:
I printed the template out onto cream coloured Bazzill cardstock and cut it out. Whilst still flat, I stamped the Darkroom Door Floral Background stamp over the cardstock using "Old Rose" Versacube ink, and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder.
I glued it all together, and added some lace trim around the edges of the shoe. Some square gem brads were added to the front for added elegance.
I used the centre of the same shoe template to cut out an insole for the shoe out of a matching pink bazzill cardstock.
So there you have it! Something completely different from me - this took me totally out of my comfort zone, but I had fun doing it! Now it's your turn!
Don't forget - your entry can be anything at all!! ATC, scrapbook page, card, jewellery, mixed media art - anything your heart desires!
Here are a bunch of links that you may find helpful to get you inspired!
Templates for 3D shoes:
* Ladies' Mule - Stampington.
* Sensational Sandals - Stampington.
* Baby Shoe templates (boys and girls).
* Shoe template by Ellen Hutson. See the same shoe here done as a witches shoe - awesome! More download links here.
* Very cool fancy shoes. (Template is here, but you have to buy it).
Templates for shoe shaped cards:
* Lady's Boot.
* Lady's Shoe.
* Lady's Sandal.
* Cowboy Boot.
* Sneaker.
* Bootie.
* Stiletto.
Other inspiration:
* Google image search for "paper shoe template".
* Wednesday Stamper's "Shoes" theme from December 2008. (Lots of links to follow to challenge entries).
* Awesome paper shoes by Corrinne Clarke here (which has a cool Marie Antoinette shoe story), and different versions of the same shoe template here and here.
* Jill's Altered Shoes.
* Quotes about shoes.
If you have any other cool ideas or links to share, leave me a note in the comments section!
OK - now it's time to get inky!

* Ladies' Mule - Stampington.
* Sensational Sandals - Stampington.
* Lady's Boot.
* Lady's Shoe.
* Lady's Sandal.
* Cowboy Boot.
* Sneaker.
* Bootie.
* Stiletto.
* Jill's Altered Shoes.
* Quotes about shoes.
If you have any other cool ideas or links to share, leave me a note in the comments section!
OK - now it's time to get inky!

Gothic Arch Challenge #17 - METALS!
Your 17th Gothic Arch challenge theme is......
METALS!
(This can include metal embellishments, or simply metallic colours like silver, gold, bronze, etc).
Your task is to create an arch using some form of metals or metallics!
Fiona has created a gorgeous sample arch for you all:
Products Used:
Tim Holtz Stamps – Urban grunge, French market; White cardstock; Antique Linen Distress Ink; Stazon Black Ink; Versacolor gold ink; Gold & clear embossing powder; Ten Seconds Studio Metals & tools; Jump rings; charm; mini brads; brown artist pen.
"I was aiming for a French white/cream feel to this arch. I began with two arches in white. The base one was stamped in the French script repeatedly down the side in antique linen ink, and the edges distress inked in the same colour. The top layer was stamped and clear embossed using the scroll stamp, gold stamped and embossed chandelier, antique linen distress stamped the diamonds, a couple of antique linen flourishes (these are hard to see), and the words in antique linen across the bottom with the focus on ‘Paris’. The edges, mostly around the scroll stamp, were inked in antique linen after the embossing was complete, before the other stamps went on. This layer was adhered over top of the bottom one, first rolling the cardstock inward and attached with mini brads. The cardstock was rubbed with a small brayer (? – I purchased this tool years ago to give Paper Tole a try, and is used to coax the paper into a curved shape) which made the cardstock easier to roll".
"I masked around the Eiffel Tower with sticky tape before inking my stamp with stazon, which I then removed to stamp my image onto the Ten Seconds Studio metal. The stamp didn’t come out really black (I think due to the time it took me to remove the sticky tape), which I was really pleased with, as I was concerned about the tower being too black on this arch. I used the metal tools to mark in some designs onto the Tower, and then lightly rubbed the surface back to reveal some shiny metal underneath the colour. Final touches were the jump rings, charm, and partial border".
Gorgeous arch Fiona!
Now it's your turn! Create an arch using metals or metallic colours and upload it to our dedicated Flickr group!

Gothic Arch Challenge #16 - BIRDS!
Your 16th Gothic Arch challenge theme is.......
BIRDS!
Here is Fiona's awesome sample arch:
Products Used:
* Distress Inks – tumbled glass, broken china, stormy sky, faded jeans, chipped sapphire
* Stamps – Paper Artsy Hot Pick 1005 (bird/flourish) Hot Pick 1004 (quote)
* Cardstock; Versamark ink; Black archival ink; Black & clear embossing powder; Japanese paper; Rock Candy crackle paint; Tombow glue; beads; dimensional magic; Feathers yarn.
"Firstly I applied distress inks (lightest to darkest, top to bottom) on the arch. I then stamped the entire background in 'Stormy Sky' with the flourish stamp. I used some Feathers yarn wrapped around cardboard pressed into chipped sapphire and stamped this across the lower third of the arch, then used a little of the Japanese paper over top for some texture. I covered the bottom roughly with tombow glue, and slid my arch into a stack of beads, and covered with dimensional magic when it had dried. I used the flourish in black as a space filler on the left and right, then smooshed the rock candy crackle paint in the centre".
"The bird was stamped with versamark and embossed in black embossing powder on scrap cardstock, cut out, and adhered with glue dots around the top of his body to keep him off the arch slightly. The quote was also stamped and clear embossed on scrap in stormy sky and distress inked. Finally I used a black liner pen to frame the edges of the arch and quote where there was no image".

Gothic Arch Challenge #15 - KEYS!
Welcome to another Sunday of Gothic Arch challenges! Fiona has been busy creating gorgeous sample arches for you all, so today I can reveal THREE new challenges!!
For those of you new to the blog, please note that the Inkurable Stampers 2010 Gothic Arch challenge is in addition to our regular monthly challenge. See the full details here.
Your next Goth Arch challenge theme is.......
KEYS!
Here is Fiona's example:
Products Used:
* White & brown Cardstock & Kaiser Cardstock scrap
* Stamps – Kaiser ‘Dear Santa’ (damask image); Kaisercraft ‘Empire Collection’ (key); The Girls Papierie ‘Paper Girl’ (Key).
* Distress Inks – Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain.
* Versamark Ink, AED hot set powder, flocking powder, charm, ribbon.
Notes from Fiona:
"The base layer is Kaiser, overlayed with a smaller trimmed arch in white which has been coloured using antique linen, tea dye and vintage photo distress inks. Once this was completely dry, I stamped the damask image in versamark and hot set powder, which I covered with brown flocking powder – it didn’t take everywhere, but I was happy with the distressed appearance of it. I then used the two key stamps with walnut stain ink and randomly stamped from both ends of the key for a focal border".
"The image comes from www.art-e-zine.co.uk/vintageresources.htmlhttp://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/vintageresources.html, and was edged in vintage photo and mounted on dark brown cardstock. The quote was typed up on the computer and printed out, and lightly sponged in antique linen and the edges dragged across the walnut stain ink pad".

The last Resist Technique challenge entries!
Hello stampers!
Here are the last of the Resist Technique challenge entries!
First we have these ATC's by Julie Haelemeersch of Belgium:
The Prying Eye:
Julie says:
"I had lots of fun with Mr. Tim Holtz’ blended batik technique, a resist technique involving embossing powder and an iron".
Stamps used: Swirls (Stamp Camp), Eye (Art Journey), Cracked (Third Coast), Bijou border (Technique Tuesday).

You Are Being Watched:
"This ATC actually features a second resist technique. I covered the eye with “Teykol” (a transparent glue) before spunging the skin with “Tattered rose” distress ink. That way the white of the eye stays white and the eye gets a bit of a “glazy” look. I coloured the iris afterwards using an aqua pen".
Stamps used: The eye is part of ”Another pretty face” (Third Coast). The dots are Heindesign/JudiKins.

Very cool Julie!!
Next we have a cute Easel Card by Lynne Quinn:
Lynne says:
"This card is made with the Spotlight Technique with chalk resist. The stamp is from Hero Arts, and the background is sponged with Dusty Concord and Worn Lipstick distress inks. I stamped the flowers first on white stock then distressed. Then I cut out two more flowers and chalk resisted those before distressing cut out and added as the spotlight over the main flower".
Lovely work Lynne!
Last but not least we have this lovely card that was sent in by Trexxann (with a minute and a half to spare before midnight! LOL!):
Trexxann says:
"The stamps I have used on my card include Darkroom Door Background Stamp French Script, and Hero Arts Clings Poppy Background. The inks include yummy Distress Inks Barn Door and Worn Lipstick. On the base of the card I stamped Hero Arts Clings Cling Dots in Stampin' Up! Whisper White pigment ink. I rounded the top right hand corner with the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper and then tied a ribbon around the front of the card".
"I stamped the French Script onto the white cardstock in Barn Door and then stamped the Poppy Background in Versamark over the top and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then used Worn Lipstick distress ink to colour the poppies and Barn Door distress ink to add definition and a deeper colour. I then used copic markers to fill in the stems of the poppies. I layered this onto pink pearlescent cardstock and pop dotted it onto the card front. I stamped Happy Birthday from Hot Off The Press Mix Your Messages stamp set onto the same pearlescent cardstock and cut and embossed it with a Nestabilities Labels 8 die. I pop dotted this also, after attaching a cute dragonfly brad in white".
Fabulous work Trexann!
Well that officially brings our Resist Techniques challenge to a close! Stay tuned for the new challenge!
